Description |
GDP-fucose is a nucleotide sugar consisting of the nucleotide guanosine 5'-diphosphate and a phosphate-bound monosaccharide, L-fucose. Nucleotide sugars are the activated forms of monosaccharides required for cellular metabolism and biosynthesis reactions. GDP-fucose serves as a donor substrate for fucosyltransferases in the biosynthesis of fucose-containing glycans and oligosaccharides. |
